How Orlandy researches, styles, writes, and reviews its content — warmly, credibly, and independently.

Trust is the only thing that makes a design publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, style, write, review, and maintain everything on Orlandy — and how we keep our content warm, credible, and independent.

How we choose what to cover

We write about the real decorating questions people get stuck on: where the sofa actually goes, which white to paint the wall, how to make a rental feel like home, and how to get a high-end look without the high-end bill. Ideas come from our own homes, reader questions, and the problems we see people wrestle with again and again. We do not chase trends purely for traffic.

How we research and style

Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with hands-on experience — styling rooms, planning layouts, mixing palettes, and testing renter-friendly fixes for real. We draw on recognised design principles, manufacturer and retailer information, and first-hand testing rather than recycling what other sites say. Where a claim depends on a specific product, price, or spec, we point to the source and remind readers to verify it, because details change.

Warm, practical, jargon-free content

We hold every draft to a simple standard: is this honest, practical, and genuinely helpful for a normal home and budget? We avoid gatekeeping, design snobbery, and the pretence that good rooms require deep pockets. We're clear that taste is personal — our job is to help you find and create the look you love, not to tell you ours is the only right answer.

Care with safety and big projects

Decorating sometimes brushes up against real construction, and we take that responsibility seriously. Orlandy is design inspiration and information, not professional interior-design, architectural, or contracting advice, and we say so clearly. When a topic touches structural, electrical, gas, or plumbing work, we point readers toward licensed professionals, local codes and permits, and — for renters — their lease, rather than positioning an article as a substitute. See our disclaimer for the full statement.

Our use of AI tools

Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content.

Independence and advertising

Orlandy is funded by advertising — including ads served through Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager — and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:

  • We never accept payment to praise a brand or product, and we do not run pay-for-placement or pay-for-praise coverage.
  • Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
  • Affiliate relationships never change our judgement — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error or an out-of-date price or product, email hello@orlandy.com or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.

Updates

Because products, prices, and trends evolve, we revisit popular articles and refresh them. When a piece is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
